Since May 2025, a dedicated IPAM task group has been developing the “Principles for Responsible Application of Artificial Intelligence to Support Climate Adaptation Metrics, Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting, and Learning”. The launch version is now available.

The principles give adaptation professionals practical guidance to use AI transparently, responsibly and under human oversight — from data collection and indicator design to reporting.

“AI can accelerate adaptation metrics — provided it stays transparent, accountable and under human oversight.”
